Paul Dee as the Bratislavian head waiter. "Paul your entertainment really made the night, from the initial greeting of the guests to the magic table hopping... What the journalists have to say about the Psychic Supper
· "But it's when she gets
specific that things get interesting and this sceptic, for one, was forced to
rethink. John is told not to worry about the problems with his car at the
moment; it will resolve itself in three days. Later john tells me that a red
light has been on in his car for the past three days. 'Never met the woman
before in my life', he assures me. Seated at our table, Mary and Howard are told
they are preoccupied with a second set of keys at present - they have just
bought a holiday home." - Brian O'Connell Irish Examiner 7th May 2005
What the journalists have to say about Paul Dee
· Paul Dennehy is
emerging as one of the best writers of panto comedy in the country and this
season he has again produced the goods with a really funny script for the
Everyman Palace. – Declan Hassett, Evening Echo 1996
· Paul Dee has an
amazing capacity to hypnotize people. This stylish unrehearsed show using
volunteers from the audience flowed with ease. The scenario of the long lost
tribe of pygmies found by Indiana Jones was my pick of the night. The ingenious
interplay by the volunteers was powerful. This polished show, well produced with
good backing music is definitely not to be missed. Michael O’Connor, Cork
Journalist
· Writer-director
Paul Dennehy and the self-styled Zany Gang just keep getting better. Dennehy
explicitly sets out to find a synthesis between traditional fairytale and modern
video-age entertainments – and his success is clear – Gerry McCarthy, Sunday
Times.
· As well as the
all-important fun element, it’s plain to see that Paul’s put a lot of planning
and intelligent thought into his scripts…..behind the wacky comedy and fun is a
talented and intelligent man. – Tina Neylon, The Examiner.
· Working with
feverish relish on stage was Paul Dennehy playing a dual role, showing his
versatility in accent, gesture and resonance in the voice. Top dollar
characterisations….Brilliantly scripted. – Flor Dulea, Southern Star.
· Paul Dennehy
and Karen Cotter are the driving force of much of the comedy and they keep it
frothy. – Liam Heylin, Evening Echo.
· The
characterisations by each and every member of the cast are well nigh perfect and
one can see the dedicated influences of Paul Dennehy as director – Flor Dulea,
Southern Star.
· His
contribution has been enormous….He brings great verse and sparkle to the
production – Edmond Fitzgerald, Imokilly People.
· This is a far
superior presentation of Big Maggie to that staged by the same group last
season… and the introduction of more talent, particularly Paul Dennehy as Teddy
Heelin has certainly made this production sparkle….giving a superb performance
– Edmond Fitzgerald, Imokilly People.
· Down the years
I’ve seen some wishy-washy Teddy Heelins…but Paul Dennehy as this Heelin made me
sit up and take more notice of this Dub interloper in Keane’s small-town
setting. In a sentence, Dennehy is terrific. He adds a dash of colour to the
play when he is on stage – Declan Hassett, The Examiner.
·
Paul Dennehy, the merchandiser of household goods and free sex, brilliantly
espouses the role of the brillianted salesman, using a mellifluous middle-class
Dublin accent and is as cunning as a fox at the hen house door – Flor Dulea,
Southern Star.
